Drawing upon the resource-based view (RBV) of the \ufb01rm, this study investigates the relationships among marketing capability, operations capability, and \ufb01nancial performance. Using archival data of 186 retail \ufb01rms in the UK, we \ufb01ndthat that marketing capability has a signi\ufb01cant impact on operations capability, and that operations capability is signi\ufb01cantly and positively related to retail ef\ufb01ciency. The results also suggest that operations capability fully mediates the relationship between marketing capability and \ufb01nancial performance. The \ufb01ndings of this study provide practical insights for practicing managers to consider when developing functional capabilities in order to achieve superior \ufb01nancial performance<\/span><\/p>\n
